A few days ago, Wallpaper Magazine anounced its annual Design Awards in London. "The Wallpaper* Design Awards 2010 are once again here to celebrate the best of the creative crop from the past twelve months." as they put it on their website.
They picked the best of everything: from beds to jeans, and among the final 55 designs can also be found a few Swiss.

The "Rocksresort" in Laax was designed by Domenig Architekten and won in the category best new ski resort.
Rocksresort is situated adjacent to the base station in Laax, Switzerland's leading freestyle winter resort. Finished in rough-hewn stone, the cubic exterior of this hotel complex succeeds at blending in with its environment. The minimalist cube-shaped buildings will house furnished holiday apartments, shops, restaurants and bars - all arranged around a central square.

Gramazio & Kohler Architecture won the best builder award with "R-O-B", a brick-laying robot which the Swiss architects developed in collaboration with ETH Zurich and brick manufacturers Keller AG Ziegeleien. First unveiled at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2008, where R-O-B built a small installation for the Swiss Pavilion, Joseph Grima, director of New York's Storefront for Art & Architecture, booked it to build an installation at the Storefront in September 2009, shown here.

The best coat stand is "signs" by the Belgian-Swiss collective big game. They designed this great wooden coat stand for the young Japanese furniture brand Karimoku New Standard.

And last but not least, the best vase is "Doubleface" a vase that combines ceramics and wood in a smart and charming way. It is designed by Florian Hauswirth who is part of the design platform postfossil and also is an editor at sachenmachen.ch.
