The ECAL diploma project "Hand forged aluminium serie" from Julien Renault won the first price at the D3 competition at the IMM Cologne, organized by the German Design Council. A sensitive project which reflects a deep research...and let you feel the material and its properties.
Information by the designer:
This project is inspired from the art and work of forging steel. My objective was to source inspiration in these archetypal processes and techniques and apply them to aluminium. The family associate standard aluminium extrusions with elements made using forgery skills and details. These objects are a dialogue between industry standards and near-craft techniques.
